New from Strange Angel Press: Skyclad Farm

We are thrilled to announce the publication of a new novel from Strange Angel Press, Skyclad Farm by Richard Lawson.

About the Book

Like his father and grandfather before him, Derek Hauser chose to be a naked farmer. Before the war, his grandfather and family escaped Nazi Germany where they had been part of the early nudist movement from the turn of the century.

Derek’s body eagerly greets the sunshine, wind, and rain on his skin. His central Illinois farm is strategically positioned to allow him to be without clothes while driving his machinery, taking care of his livestock, and handling all the other work of the land. A sign at the driveway gives fair warning to anyone pulling onto the farmstead. Through the years, regular visitors – feed suppliers or insurance agents – learn what to expect. But sometimes the “Clothing Optional Beyond This Point” sign draws the curious, and gives Derek an opportunity to educate his visitors on the merits of naturism. A band of hippie motorcyclists shows up and sheds their clothes after seeing the sign and expecting to find a nudist resort.

A conservative church gets wind of Derek’s activity and tries to get law enforcement to put an end to it. Yet a newspaper reporter gives such a positive account that it spurs widespread pressure to establish a nudist getaway on the farm. While in college, Derek becomes involved in a thriving non-landed nudist club made up of mostly students and staff. There he meets and falls in love with Emily, whose humanitarian bent takes her to Africa to work against female circumcision – a kind of extension of Derek’s own personal campaign against routine male circumcision in America.

Skyclad Farm showcases the wholesome life of naturism set in a bucolic world where neither creatures nor people have to cover up – often to the envy of neighbors and visitors.
