In the Works: The Heretics Appendix

Fans of Kenneth Alan Moe’s Heretics in Occupied Eden series will be able to learn much more about the characters that inhabit the utopian world he has created in the seven book series.

The books represent an extended musing on how humanity could evolve in a positive direction by challenging traditional religious norms while engaging in spiritual practices in diverse, inclusive communities.

It envisions another race of sentient beings who have inhabited the earth as long as humans have. Acting as guardians and mentors for humans, they are mistaken for angels although they are fully terrestrial.

The tale is told through the eyes of a group of humans who have learned to leave their bodies at will (float) and who spend a lot of time naked, particularly in church. The Heretics in Occupied Eden series spans two hundred years, from the mid-20th to mid-22nd centuries.

The upcoming The Heretics Appendix is a compendium of information about the fictional and historical content of the seven books, characters, languages, books cited, song lists, and more.

It also includes lengthy narrative material:  character back stories, extended dialog for certain scenes, deleted scenes, writings about the Merven (the hyper-intelligent species that shares a common ancestor with humans), future developments, and essays relating to naturism and actual naturist churches.

There are even passages detailing alternative developments if various characters had made different decisions at crucial points. The word document is nearly 148,000 words and 1,100 pages so far, with more material yet to come.

You can check out the series, starting with The Floating Boy, right away. We’ll let you know here when there’s a publication date for The Heretics Appendix!
